On the obverse side, it depicts the coat of arms of the Russian tsars, the doubleheaded eagle and the personal emblem of Tsar Nicholas II. The reverse side features a portrait of Tsar Peter I, better known as “Peter the Great”, the first Czar of the Russian Empire and founder of St. Petersburg. Besides the lattermentioned, the national allegory “Mother Russia” is portayed in the form of a young woman.
